Jerry A. White, M.D., Col., USAF (Ret.)

Jerry Allen White, 83, of Kingwood, Texas passed away of natural causes on May 30, 2017 at his lake house in Livingston, TX.
He was born in Madisonville, Texas on November 21, 1933 to Burtis & Ruby (Madole) White. Jerry graduated from Madisonville High School and attended Texas Tech University and the University of Texas at Austin before receiving a Medical Doctor degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He married the former Toni Kay Jones whom he met while at medical school. They had three sons during their marriage which ended in divorce after 18 years.

Jerry joined the Air Force shortly after finishing medical school and served as a Flight Surgeon for 20 years before retiring with the rank of Colonel in 1980. One of the highlights of his career was to work with astronauts and test pilots at Edwards Air Force base as part of the USAF Aerospace Medicine program during the heydays of the space program. While in the Air Force Jerry was stationed in Texas, California and North Dakota and overseas in Turkey, Japan and Korea. It was during his tour in Korea that he met Chi Hyecha (Kim) whom he married in 1977. Kim loved and cared for Jerry for the rest of his life. Jerry had a second career with the University of Texas Medical Branch where he served for 23 years as a Physician and Medical Director at several TDCJ Correctional Institutions.

Jerry had a passion for history, travel, and genealogy. His travels took him to Europe, the Middle East, the Mediterranean basin and northern Africa, the Far East, Australia & New Zealand, South & Central America and most of the states in the U.S. He always strived to understand the history and culture of the places he visited. His most recent interest was in genealogy where he traced the Madole family lineage back to a nephew of William the Conqueror.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Patricia Rasco and is survived by his wife, Kim, and children Greg White and wife Kathy, John White, Tim White and spouse Trudi; grandchildren Monica White, Christina Macmull and husband Shai, Kevin White, Doug White, and Cindy White; sister Shirley Jeter and husband Bill; great grandchildren Eitan Macmull and Emily Macmull.

Visitation will be held Monday June 5th, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at American Heritage Funeral Home 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston TX 77038. A committal service will follow at 2:15 p.m. to the Houston National Cemetery 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston TX 77038.
