Jerry Lane Joiner, A.K.A. J.J. or Buster to his friends, from Burney, CA, died in his sleep on July 28, 2011 at Shasta Regional in Redding, CA from various long term illnesses.
He was born January 18, 1949 in Red Bluff, CA. After graduating from Shasta High School, Jerry served his country in the Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne during the Vietnam War for which he received a Purple Heart. Jerry lived most of his life in Burney, CA where he was a very active member in the V.F.W., the Clampers and various organizations. Jerry was a truck driver for many years and worked for many companies throughout the north state. He was well known by all as an avid storyteller, a good friend, and a mediocre golfer.
Jerry is survived by his three children; Jeremy Joiner and his wife Carrie of Lakehead, CA, Lisa Smith and her husband Curtis of Medford, OR, and Joel Joiner and his wife Theresa of Portland, OR, grandchildren Allison and Ashley, sisters Royce Brazo and Loraine Joiner, stepfather Bill Townsend, and many friends from all over the country.

Services will be held at the V.F.W. Hall in Burney, CA August 13 at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jerry can be made to St. Jude's Research Children's Hospital , Tribute Dept., PO Box 142, Memphis TN, 38148. Please include a note stating the contribution is in memory of Jerry Joiner or write same in memo area on check.
