Jerry Michael Snider of Fishersville departed this earth after 67 years on Friday, August 4, 2017. He answered to many names given to him by those who loved and knew him- Daddy, Paw-Paw, Huggie, Bear and Susie.
He was born January 6, 1950 in Waynesboro to the late Stanley S. and Flora Pettit Snider. He was a graduate of Waynesboro High School and Berea College in Kentucky.
Jerry was employed by DuPont/Invista for over 40 years. In his lifetime, he enjoyed coaching his daughters' softball teams, landscaping, gardening, a good game of cards and watching his grandkids grow. He liked music, notably Marvin Gaye, Styx and we could not leave out The Doobie Brothers. Couple the right song with a stiff drink and you might even get him to dance! He never hesitated to crack a joke or lend a helping hand. Those that knew him well throughout his life could tell you stories of his distinct sense of humor. He will be truly missed.
Jerry is lovingly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Nellie (Fisher) Snider; daughters, Lindsay Snider and husband, Aaron, Rhiannon Snider and Shianne Sizemore and husband, William; siblings, Patsy Underwood and husband, Eddie of Bassett, Jennifer Shields and husband, Tommy of Waynesboro, James "Jimmy" Snider and wife, Stephanie of Ivy; five grandchildren, whom he adored, Brayden, Emma, Brennen, Karl and Coralynn; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Corey Smallwood officiating. Burial to follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be his coworkers of Invista, his second family, Jim Flickinger, Mark Davis, Mark Wilson, Tony Hoffman, Doug Painter and Greg Meadows.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the funeral home.
