Jerry William Garza, 43 years old, passed away into his Heavenly Father's arms on Sunday, October 29, 2017. Rosary will be held Thursday, November 9, 7:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home; funeral mass will occur at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Friday, November 10 at 9:30 AM; and interment follows at 11:30 Friday at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Jerry was born in Abilene, Texas to Jerry Sr. and Olga Garza on April 10, 1974. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1992, then served with the Marines from 1993 -1997 during which time he was stationed inJapan, was promoted to corporal and awarded expert rifle marksmanship. Until his passing, Jerry was passionately patriotic and proud of his military service. Jerry lived in San Antonio but loved Austin and the many travel adventures that took him to Germany, Rome, England, Belgium, France, Amsterdam, Holland, Canada, and Puerto Rico, where he often traveled with his mother, daughter, and sister and his nieces and nephew. He was employed at the Toyota plant in San Antonio for 12 years, where it is clear he made countless friends.

He will be remembered for always bringing joy to others with his humor, knack for dancing, vibrant big smile and expressive brown eyes. Lovingly known as "little Jerry" to his aunts and uncles, words cannot express the loss and emptiness we all feel in our hearts. He will be greatly missed by many who loved him, but will live on in the countless stories we all have of our son, brother, father, nephew, cousin, and friend.

Jerry is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Reynaldo and Carlota Ramirez and paternal grandparents Celestino and Dolores Garza.

He is survived by his parents - mother Olga Garza and father Jerry Sr. Garza, sister Tamara Chavez and husband Ramiro, daughter Mirayah Garza, Mirayah's mother and Jerry's former wife Grace Garza, goddaughter and niece Tonya, other nieces Mya and Anissa, and nephew RJ, uncles Rey Ramirez and his wife Yolanda, Celestino Garza and his wife Rosa; aunts Olivia Duckworth and her husband Tom, Ofelia Pallanez and her husband Tony, Josie Dominguez and her husband Ruben, Hortencia Del Bosque and her husband Randy, and Teresa Berg and her husband Howard, as well as numerous cousins who all felt a special bond to their Jerry.

Paul bearers include RJ Chavez, Anthony Duckworth, Gabriel Pallanez, Joaquin Ramirez, Philip Garcia, and Adrian Martinez.
