Jess McNeely, age 79, of Houston, Texas, passed away on November 8, 2017. He was born on April 15, 1938 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Faye and Guy McNeely, and he was one of 6 siblings. Jess attended and played football at the University of Houston where he met and married his soulmate, Melvaline Anderson, on August 31, 1957. They were married until Mel's death on June 28, 2017.

Jess loved golf, guitars and singing. He enjoyed church choirs and barbershop quartets. He sang with the barbershop chorus, the Houston Tidelanders, for many years where he made lifelong friends.

Jess worked in the oil and gas industry his entire career. He owned the Houston Sales Company for 30 years and thrived by designing and patenting various drilling products.

Jess is survived by his daughters Lisa Odom (Michael), Dayna McNeely, and Sheri Williams (Lowell); grandchildren Allen Dixon (Karibe), Pamela Feldman (Brian), Steven Rainey (Jennifer), Michelle Rice (Barrett Sales), Micah Peterson, and Tyler Odom; and great grandchildren Madi Rainey, Lilly Rainey, Kellen Dixon, Crawford Dixon, Emma Sales and Jack Sales.

The family is sincerely grateful to the care team at Sunrise of Cinco Ranch in Katy, Texas, and to their dear family, Judy and Jerry Anderson, and friends the Devines and Natolis, who continued to visit them through their final days.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 4:00pm at Palacio Maria in Katy, Texas. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) or to the charity of your choice.

They will be deeply missed but we take great comfort knowing that Jess and Mel are together again, for eternity.

Will the circle be unbroken, by and by, Lord, by and by. There's a better home awaiting in the sky, Lord, in the sky. ~ Johnny Cash.
