Jessie "J.C." Gossett, 70, Colorado City, passed away peacefully at the Mitchell County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his family by his side.
J.C. was born in Rockwall, Texas on April 14, 1946 to Manuel and Clara Halbert Gossett.
J.C. married the love of his life, Virginia White on May 17, 1965 in Big Spring Texas, on the day after her 17th birthday. They spent 51 years side by side raising their family and enjoying life. J.C. drove truck for T and T Transport for 29 years He was an ornery man who was set in his ways and very loyal to his family. J.C. enjoyed being outdoors and fishing and would not be seen without a Doctor Pepper in one hand and dip of Copenhagen in his mouth. When he wasn't working or spending time with family one could find him in his garage tinkering on a car or a lawn mower.
J.C. is survived by his wife Virginia Gossett of Colorado City, his sons Tony Gossett of Colorado City, Jessie Ray Gossett and wife Nancy of Abilene, and Danny Gossett also of Colorado City, and by his daughters Tammy Watkins and husband Wally of Colorado City and Windy Campbell and husband Kenny also of Colorado City. Also surviving is his sister Martha Kozlowski and her husband Whity of Lafayette Colorado, 12 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers David Gossett and Roby Gossett and by a sister Freta Mae Dickerson.
A funeral service will be held at the First Assembly of God Church of Colorado City on Wednesday, October 19th at 10 am with Rev. Mike Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the Westbrook Cemetery.
