Jesus Antonio Gonzalez “Chuy”

Born December 13, 1938 in Corpus Christi, TX to Crespiniano and Rosa Gonzalez, Chuy was the eldest of nine children.

Chuy's parents, Crespiniano and Rosa; his sister, Yolanda Rodriguez and brother, Fructoso Gonzalez preceded Chuy in passing.

“Chuy” to all who knew him leaves behind two brothers, Crespiniano Gonzalez and wife Lou, who he thought hung the moon, Mariano and wife Rachel, whom he thought hung the stars. Four sisters and brothers-in-law, Janie Morales (Samuel who saw him as a brother), Alejandra and husband Jorge with whom he enjoyed a beer now and then, Christina (who he called the 49'rs cheerleader and husband Eliseo Salazar and the youngest, Jovita and husband Chuck Abel who always went out of their way to please him. Brother-in-law Juan Rodriguez who he loved and respected.

He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins who loved and will miss him but there is one that treated him as the very special person in her life....his niece Rose Alvarez. Rose is the daughter he never had. She watched and pampered him to a fault and where he was concerned, she could do no wrong.

He also leaves behind his three Godchildren, Danny Morales, Jerry Alvarez and Madison Alvarez.

A character in his own right and so opinionated that when losing an argument he coined the phrase “I'm not running for political office or trying to get married”.

So until we meet again beloved brother, uncle, and cousin we will just say “Adios, Filito Filito”.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow at Rosehill Memorial Park.
