Jill Marie Collins Jill Marie Collins, age 35, of Elkton, MD, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013, surrounded by her family after a courageous three and a half year battle with brain cancer. Born in Wilmington, DE on April 12, 1978, she was the daughter of Nancy Thomas Holmes, Elkton, MD and the late John A. Holmes III. Jill was a medical assistant at Chesapeake Sports and Orthopaedics, Elkton. She had a passion for life and loved being outdoors especially hiking at the Fair Hill Nature Center , traveling with her husband and trips to the beach. An avid gardener and runner, she had enjoyed playing field hockey and softball while in high school. In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband of 8 years, Matthew Reed Collins and siblings, Jodi Holmes, Avondale, PA and John Holmes IV, Elkton, MD. She will also be missed by her Jack Russell terrier, Meadow, and Mallory, her boxer. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Church, 454 Bow Street, Elkton. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27 from 6-8 p.m. at the church. Interment will be private in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to support Brain Cancer Research at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center may be made to Johns Hopkins University, in care of Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD 21921.
