Jim, age 46, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012 from injuries sustained in an accident. Jim was born November 8, 1965, the son of Ron and Mary Farrand Weiss, and was a long time Kimberly resident and was the manager of Liberty Hall. He is survived by his parents: Mary and Ron Weiss; maternal grandmother: Marie Farrand; a brother: Dave Weiss and his partner Joseph Miller; as well as Uncle Bill Gloria Farrand, Aunt Lois Greg Meidl, Aunt Elinor Joseph Neilitz, and Aunt Monique Weiss.

What an amazing person Jim was! When he woke in the mornings, even though he had worked long hours late into the night, he always had a big smile and a "Hi Mom, Hi Pop". Jim was always smiling and enjoyed life to the fullest.

Jim was considered a brother and friend to the many people that cared for him. He was always there for anyone who needed anything. Then there is the "Hodag" bunch from all over the state. From them: "All the important roles you have played for us a Brother, a Protector, a Psychologist, a Friend, a Listener, and most of all "the joy and center of our Hodag Family", This was the event of the year for them. His walls are adorned by the stars he has met and loved.

Jim had a great work ethic, working as Banquet and Beverage Manager for more than 27 years for Liberty Hall Conference Center. He worked hard, hand-in-hand and played with his best friend and boss, Mike Van Asten. Jim didn't really consider it "work", he enjoyed setting up events and working with both clients and co-workers. He wasn't just "someone" to the people he worked with and clients they worked for. They all loved him as a person, and recognized his smile and happy-go-lucky attitude.

He will be missed by his friend/cousin/hunting buddy Jim "Pickles" Schmit. They enjoyed many times in the woods, walking, hunting, telling stories. The woods were an outlet for Jim, and he loved being there with his buddy.

Over the years Jim traveled to many places. Trips to Vegas, cruises with family and friends, and especially spending Super Bowl XLV on the cruise pool deck with his family, watching The Pack win.

Jim a.k.a Weasel made an enormous impact on the lives of so many people. He was always there with a smile on his face, a handshake, or a pat on the back. Jim loved life, and loved his family and friends. Know that he will be there with us all in our hearts, our thoughts, and our memories.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at ST. JOHN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 323 Pine Street in Little Chute. The service will be followed immediately by a Celebration of Jim's Life at Liberty Hall, 800 Eisenhower Drive in Kimberly. Casual attire is encouraged: please wear something that reminded you of Jim, such as a Packers or Brewers jersey, Hodag shirt, hunting clothes, or cowboy hat.

Special thanks to the Theda Clark staff, especially Chaplin K.C. Shuler, the ICU nurses and doctors, and Mary Beth and the social workers.

Please no food or flowers, certainly not because we don't want them but are overwhelmed already. A smile and a hug, whether in-person or virtual, is enough. There will be a lot to do later and if you want to help, please leave your number with the family.
