Jimmy Earl Taylor, age 77 of Rocky Mount, NC took his flight home to be with Jesus on Saturday, September 5, 2015. He was born on March 28, 1938 in Edgecombe County to the late Moses and Lena Jackson Taylor.



He served in the US Army for 18 months, during some of this time station in Germany. His previous employment was with Brewer Paint and Wallpaper Company, Moore Paint and Wallpaper and he retired from the City School Systems in 2000. He was a charter and faithful member of Oak View Baptist Church. Jimmy enjoyed fishing, working in his yard and helping others.



In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters: Nellie Colbert, Dolly Bottoms, and Pattie New.



Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Katie Bottoms Taylor, three sisters: Mary Alice Hodges, Sylvia Lamb, Dorothy Stallings (Jim); three brothers: Billy Taylor (Jessie Dean), Elbert Taylor (Faye), and Ray Taylor (Jean). In addition he is also survived by a special niece Candy Taylor Cashwell (Donald) and the boys: DeWyatt Cashwell and Nathan Cashwell; special nephew Ronnie Taylor and other nieces and nephews. His extend family: George Bottoms, Janice Holder, Bobby Bottoms, Brenda Mott, Wanda Carpenter, and Rodger Bottoms.



Flowers will be accepted and memorials may be made to Oak View Baptist Church 2412 Arlington Street Rocky Mount, NC 27801.
