CROSS, Jo Ann F., 74, left her home in Mechanicsville, Virginia to be reunited in Heaven with her beloved sister Barbara Jean Frizzell on Sunday, December 10, 2017. Jo Ann was born in Richmond, Virginia on December 9, 1943 to Frank and Josephine (Goldsby) Frizzell. She graduated from Lee Davis High School in 1962 where she was a member of the cheerleading squad. After a year at Longwood College, Jo Ann married her high School sweetheart, John Dennis Cross and over their 20-year marriage raised 5 children that were the center of her world. Jo Ann was a member of Mechanicsville Christian Center and spent many years serving as a hostess in the Hospitality Center and was a member of the choir where she participated in many musical productions. After many decades in the banking industry she retired from the BB&T Operations Center in Mechanicsville, VA in 2008 after more than 20 years of service. She positively impacted the lives of her co-workers and friends at the operations center during her tenure and provided many intern opportunities to local youth. Jo Ann was a loving, caring, compassionate, and extraordinarily generous lady. She served as an example of Christ's love for all of us. Jo Ann had a passion for several things during her life including, reading historical romances, chocolate, animals and of course her family. People who knew her will remember her sense of humor, loyalty and that family was everything. She was the foundation, information central and the communications conduit for all her children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Josephine Frizzell, her sister Barbara Jean Frizzell, her In-laws A.B. and Melba Cross, and her brother-in-law A.B. (Barry) Cross, Jr. She is survived by her children; Kim (Bill) Bailey, Kris (Taylor) Butler, John D. Cross, Jr., Martha (Todd) Walker, and Sarah Cross and her fianc, Jerry Koris.
