JoAnn Neil, 82, passed from this life Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.

Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00pm, Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 11:00am, Thursday, January 18, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Kosciusko with interment in the Kosciusko City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.

JoAnn was born November 7, 1935, in Kosciusko, a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin "Bennie" Pettit and Allie Mae Bell Pettit. She was a graduate of Kosciusko High School and Mississippi College.

JoAnn grew up in the Kosciusko First Baptist Church. Following her marriage to Rev. Don H. Neil in 1959, she moved with her husband to Greenville where he pastored Southside Baptist Church. Later they served at Lake Washington Baptist Church in Glen Allen and Cherry Street Baptist Church in Clarksdale.

Following the death of her husband in 1981, JoAnn moved to Jackson where she joined First Baptist Church in Jackson, and was employed with the Law Library at Mississippi College for several years.

In addition to her parents and husband, JoAnn was preceded in death by her son, James "Jeff" Neil.

Survivors include daughter, Jeri "Beth" Givens and husband John; daughter-in-law, Barbara K. Neil; grandchildren, Don R. Givens, Megan E. Landers and husband Lucian, Jennifer Diez and husband Payne, Patricia Poole and husband Leonard, and Jessica Sullivan; and great-grandchildren, Andrew, Lisl and Sarah Murphy, Johann and William "Peyroux" Poole, Gabe Sullivan, and Aryia Landers.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Churches of Jackson or Kosciusko.
