Joan E. Crosby, 86, of Columbia, died at home surrounded by her children and supported by Boone Hospice on Monday, January 15, 2017.

Visitation will take place, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Reverend Francis Doyle officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was born on October 7, 1931 in Columbia, Missouri to William R. and Bertha (Boos) Martin Jr. She was a graduate of Hickman High School, Christian (now Columbia) Collage and the University of Missouri. She was employed as a secretary for Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School and worked in food service supervision for Sacred Heart School, Central Missouri Area Agency for Aging, and retired from Stephens College.

On August 20, 1952 she married James E Crosby III who preceded her in death on May 7, 2017.
Joan was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was on the first parish council and served for many years as Eucharistic Minister. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing with several bridge groups.

She is survived by her brother William R. "Bud" (Marcia) Martin III of Live Oak, FL; her sisters Betty (Bob) Martin of Victoria, TX; and Marge Burk of Plano, TX; and five children: James "Ed" of Columbia, Bob of Houston, TX and triplets David (Heather) of Crystal City, MO; Don of Kirksville, MO and Doris Dixon of Ballwin, MO. Additionally she is survived by seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
