Joan Elizabeth Keenan, a resident of Jackson, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 at her home.
She was born on April 6th, 1938 to the late Dr. Mercer Lynch and Winifred Lynch in New Orleans, LA. Joan graduated from Metairie Park Country Day School and attended the University of Alabama, where she pledged to the Chi Omega Sorority. During the 1957-58 New Orleans Carnival season she reigned as queen of the Achaeans Ball and was chosen as a maid in the Balls of the Elves of Oberon, the High Priests of Mithras and Proteus. She took part in the tableau of the Mystic Club Ball and was a princess in the Osiris Ball.
Joan Keenan enjoyed travel, playing golf, cooking, and was a lifelong homemaker. Joan has lived in Jackson for the past 38 years and was active in the Junior League. She previously lived in Fort Worth, TX, Signal Mountain, TN and Atlanta, GA.
Joan married Donald Eugene Keenan and they recently celebrated 57 years together. She is preceded by her son Chris Keenan of Tulsa, OK and survived by his wife Rhonda Keenan of Brandon, MS. Joan is survived by Don Keenan, Sr., her son Don Keenan, Jr. and his wife Michele Keenan of Fort Worth, TX. She has three Grand Children, Erin Stevens, Paige Keenan and Charles Keenan.
A funeral service will be held at Parkway Funeral Home 2:00pm Monday January 23, 2018 with visitation preceding at 1:00pm. Burial will be in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
