Joan Larmann Drewes passed away on March 18, 2014 at the age of 81. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Drewes, with whom she celebrated 46 wonderful years of marriage. Joan was the daughter of the late Edward John and Marie Fernandez Larmann; the sister of the late Fr. Marian E. Larmann, the late Marie L. Jacob, the late Alfred L. Larmann, the late Carol L. Springmann, the late Anna Mae L. Maher, and Margaret L. Osterhold. She was the loving mother of Patrice M. Drewes (Bonnie Abadie), Kevin S. Drewes (Sheila), Pamela Drewes Arcuri (Charles), and Mark R. Drewes (Robin), grandmother of 9 grandchildren, and great grandmother of 5 great grandchildren. Joan was a native of New Orleans, a proud graduate of Annunciation High School, and worked as a secretary for AT&T. Shortly after marriage, she moved to Jefferson Parish and devoted herself full time to her greatest love, raising her family. Once her children were grown, she expanded upon her love of sewing, creating fine drapery for homes throughout New Orleans. She was a St. Agnes Church parishioner for over 50 years, an active member of the Altar Society, the Red Hat Hotties, Les Chateaux Rouges, and the St. Christopher Circle of Friends for whom she served as Treasurer. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling, reading, attending plays, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. She will be fondly remembered for her devout faith, genuine concern for family and friends, and remarkable resolve to remain independent while battling emphysema. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at Schoen Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70119, with visitation held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 beginning at 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 5242 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Light House for the Blind (New Orleans) or Saint Joseph Abbey (Covington) in loving memory of Joan Larmann Drewes are preferred.
