Douglas Jay Benad, 63, of Caldwell, passed away peacefully in his home on August 29, 2016.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 3, 2016.

Doug was born in Taylor to Millard and Lendy Benad on June 26, 1953. He attended school at St. Mary's Catholic school and Taylor ISD and graduated from Taylor High School in 1971. He married the love of his life Mary Guenther on November 20, 1976 in Coupland, TX. Doug was a hard-working man and worked at and owned Ca-Ce-Len Manufacturing in Granger, TX until 1995. He then owned and operated the Golden Chick restaurants in Caldwell and Hearne, TX. Doug loved interacting with all of his employees and customers and was known for his generosity and kindness with which he treated every single person who crossed his path.

If you ever had the pleasure of meeting Doug Benad you instantly had a friend for life. He lived his life for others and was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. He loved his Texas Longhorns, his family, and more than anything his precious grandchildren.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents Millard and Lendy Benad, his sister-in-laws Cynda Benad and Margaret Davis, and niece Jennifer Benad Ghatalia.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of almost 40 years Mary Guenther Benad of Caldwell, TX, daughter and son-in-law Candace Benad Wilson and Nick Wilson of Calvert, TX, brother Rodney Benad of Pleasanton, TX, and his pride and joy grandchildren, Kade Sandoval and Lily Wilson of Calvert, TX.

Honorary pallbearers are Rodney Benad, Zane Grubbs, James Zvonek, Nick Wilson, Kenny Schaefer, Farrell Scruggs, Frank Scofield, and Thomas Pickerill.
