John Jones was born March 20, 1930 to the late Lowell V. Jones and Ruth Smith Jones in Cleburne. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Carol Jones, who he dutifully cared for in her final months and dutifully chases her still.

John Jones was a graduate of Grand Prairie High School, where he played basketball and football, when the sport was played with simple leather headgear for protection. He often recounted a landscape in the mid-cities that was punctuated with a single red traffic light between Dallas and Fort Worth. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and worked in aviation at LTV and Menasco, where he would retire. Outside of work, he raised chickens, harvested honey, loaded his own ammunition and fixed any and all things that required fixing and perpetually tinkered with things that didn't. He was a skilled hunter, taking fowl, deer and elk. He and Carol were also avid domestic travelers, regularly touring the continental U.S. in one of their Jeeps.

He is survived by his brother William Jones, his daughters Nita Conlan, Connie Bauer, Cindy Koenig and son Jay Jones, as well as 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, who brought him much joy.
