John Anthony Nirich, age 93, passed away at his residence in Amissville, VA, Sunday, February 19, 2017. Born February 23, 1923, in Maine to John E. Nirich and Mary Njirich-Nirich, John served his country in the U.S. Navy, worked in the Pentagon for the Department of the Army, volunteered at Prince William Hospital for over 18 years, was active with his sons in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Baseball and loved hunting, golf and trips to their condo in Myrtle Beach with friends and family.

Surviving John are his three children, Cheryl Norton of Strasburg, VA, John Michael Nirich (Patsy) of Front Royal, VA, Jimmy Nirich (Debby) of Warrenton; five grandchildren, Jennifer Norton, Lee Norton, Shannon Nirich, Christin Kettering, Taylor Nirich; three great-grandchildren, Cody Moulds, Melody Norton and Davis Kettering. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Frances Reynolds Nirich.

Visitation will be held at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Hwy., Culpeper, Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 24, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. in the Precious Blood Catholic Church, 114 E. Edmondson Street, Culpeper, with Father Mark Moretti officiating. Interment to follow in Culpeper National Cemetery, New Grounds at 11:00 a.m. with military honors provided by the Culpeper VFW Post 2524 Honor Guard.
