John C. "Jack" Stringer, 89, of 235 Walker Street, died Wednesday at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center.

Born in Pittsfield October 15, 1925, the son of Victor and Julia Gavin Stringer, he lived most of his life in

Lenox Dale and attended Lenox public schools including the former Lenox Dale grammar school.

Mr. Stringer served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.

A building contractor and licensed pipefitter, he operated his own business building quality homes in

Lenox, Lenox Dale, Lee, and the surrounding area throughout his career. He was a past Chief of both the

Lenox Dale and Lenox Fire Companies and had been the Town of Lenox Building Inspector for many

years.

A communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Lenox Dale, he held membership in the American Legion

Post #0274 in Lenox Dale, Knights of Columbus Rabida Council #103 of Pittsfield, The National

Association of Home Builders, and was a Charter Member of the Berkshire County Builders Association.

Mr. Stringer and his wife, Alice Fraval Stringer, were married in St. Vincent de Paul Church May 26, 1951.

Mrs. Stringer died in 2001.

He is survived by his children; Bruce J. Stringer of Lenox Dale, Joanne M. Stringer of Sagamore Beach,

MA, and John J. Stringer and his wife Joanna Roche of Lenox Dale; grandchildren David, Michael, Neena,

Jake, and Hanna Stringer, Katherine and Danielle Zukowski, and Luke and Noah Stringer; his brother

Victor Stringer and his wife Diane of Lee and sister Susanne Sikora of New York; and several great-

grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents he was predeceased by his infant son Kevin, his twin

brother James Stringer, and his daughter-in-law Linda Blasioli Stringer.

A funeral with full military and fire department honors for Mr. John C. Stringer of Lenox Dale will be

held on Monday, February 16th, 2015 at 10 am from the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME followed by a Liturgy of

Christian Burial at 11 at St. Ann's Church in Lenox celebrated by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, Pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday at St. Vincent de Paul Church in

Lenox Dale from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Lenox Dale Fire

Co. in care of the funeral home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
