John Clifton Rushing, 90, of Bellmead, walked into the arms of the Lord on July 21, 2016. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, Cole Funeral Home, McGregor, with Craig Klempnauer officiating. Interment follows in Moody Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 25, Cole Funeral Home.

Mr. Rushing was born March 14, 1926 in Abilene, Texas to Robert E. and Meady Ann Laird Rushing.

John was a hard-working man who loved music and his family. He was always singing while working, and continued to sing until he passed away. He was an excellent carpenter, and built houses all over Texas and Oklahoma, for Jim Walter Homes and Krumnow Homes. One of his favorite things to do was to go riding all over the country, with his brothers. He served in the United States Army in World War II.

Mr. Rushing was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lloyd Rushing and Ralph Rushing; five sisters, Lorene Nix, Lucille Brown, Margie McMahan, Mavie Edwards, and LaDean Reams; and a granddaughter Melanie Mathis.

John is survived by daughters, Marian Easley and husband, Richard, of Mound, Carol Harris and husband, Richard, of Bellmead, Deborah Rushing, of Hewitt, Elizabeth Roberts and husband, Jim, of Lorena, Johnnie Wollard, of Bellmead; step-daughter, Mary Giles, of Splendora; step-son, James Holdbrook, of Splendora; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty four great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Rushing, of Willow Grove; two sisters, Meady Sanders, of Waco, and Esther Kelley, of Troy.
