John W. Cullen, 64, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 11:35 PM at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital.
He was born on November 5, 1947 in Ft. Madison, IA to William and Juanita Holt Cullen. On August 19, 1967 he married Jane Marie Zumdome in Ft. Madison and she passed away on January 10, 2000. John was a supervisor at DuPont, retiring after 28 years of service. He was a member of Ss. Mary & Josephs Church and also served in the US Army during Vietnam where he was a member of the Americal Division 196th Light Infantry. He was a member of the Eagles, DAV, Wildlife Federation and Defenders of Wildlife. John was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer and he enjoyed camping, boating and was a supporter of PAWS.
Survivors include two daughters, Julie (Bill) Rogers of Bradenton, FL and Janet (Marvin) Thomson of Burlington, IA; three grandchildren, Sydney Rogers, Natalie Thomson and Travis Thomson; three brothers, Charles Cullen, Steven Cullen and Todd (Ellen) Cullen all of Ft. Madison; sister-in-law, Sandi Cullen of Altoona, IA; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, Thomas.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 11 AM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends from 9 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Soldiers' Circle, Oakland Cemetery with Military Rites performed by the Ft. Madison Veteran's Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for PAW Animal Shelter and online condolences may be left at www.kinglynk.com.
