John 'Butch' Davis Love, a Bend resident passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. He was 79 years old.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10am at Prineville Funeral Home. Commital to follow at Juniper Haven Cemetery. Chaplain Randall Ross of 'Partners in Care' of Bend will officiate.

John was born in Belle, Missouri on March 31, 1932 to Orval Chesley & Gladys Nadine (Mills) Love. He was raised in the Jefferson - Turner, Oregon area, and attended schools in Jefferson. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1950 and served in the Korean War as a fireman, honorably discharged in 1954.

He married Evelyn Marie Smith in Albany, Oregon on June 21, 1952. After his military service, they settled in the west Stayton, Oregon area. He worked for Willamette Builders for several years and then became a plumber. They moved to Central Oregon in 1981; moving to Sunriver and owned &operated J. D. L. Plumbing until he retired in 1994. After his retirement, they traveled & were sunbirds to Arizona every October. They moved to Prineville in 2005.

John loved the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, camping and family pick-nicks. He enjoyed sports and played baseball, basketball & football. Butch was an avid card player; especially Poker & Pinochle at Stone Lodge in Bend. He was a member of the V.F. W. Post #1643 of Bend, Oregon.

Butch is survived by his daughter; Annette M. Love of Sunriver, Oregon, brother; Jim Love of Bend, sisters; Wanda Smith of Bend and Norma Laurie Cureton of Salem, Oregon. Two grandchildren; Amie Hamilton of Sunriver and Juston Love of Portland, Oregon. Three great grandsons; Brandon, Ethan & Nathan Hamilton all of Sunriver, Oregon. Numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, his wife (2008 in Prineville) and one brother.
