He is survived by his wife Mignette, loving children Jody Polk and wife April, Amy Avant and husband Darby; grandchildren Julian, Gabriel, Francesca, Garrett, Jayden, Chandler and Cullen.

John was an amazing man with a contagious laugh along with a good story or joke. He worked hard his entire life and has never met a stranger. He proudly served his country as a member of the Bravo Company, 3rd/60th, 9th Infantry Division and always looked forward to his Vietnam reunions. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, playing cribbage with Jody, and getting on the green anytime he could to play golf. He was a supporter of the Wounded Warriors Foundation and was most proud of his children, Jody and Amy.

He is also survived by four brothers, Glen Polk, Virgil Polk and wife Trish, Larry Polk and wife Edith and Kenneth Polk and wife Maudine; five sisters, Selena Boring and husband Roger, Jonita Jatzlau and husband Bobby, Emma Wright and husband Robert, Linda Schneider, and Martha Anderson, and; many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends who will miss him greatly.
