Big Indian-

John R. Fennelly, 82 of Big Indian died Sunday at his residence, with family at his side. He was born May 12, 1932 in Kingston, the beloved son of the late Mary Pomeroy. John was a truck driver, having been a member of the Teamsters Local #707. He both grew up, and retired in Big Indian. He was a veteran of the U.S.Army, having served in the Korean War and stationed in Germany. John was a pillar of the community, and loved by all who knew him.
Surviving are his daughters: Audrey Fennelly of FL, and Tammy and her husband Tom Bates of TX. 3 grandchildren: Jessiee Lynn Wilson, Krista and Jonathon Bates. A sister Teri Carpino of Kingston. Sister-in-law Mary Pomeroy of Big Indian. Uncle of Jonathan Carpino, and Barbara Pomeroy and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by his brother Roy L. Carpino, and step-parents Roy and Margaret Carpino.
A Memorial Service to Celebrate the Life of John will be held on Thursday at 1pm at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia with the Rev. Ralph Darmstadt. Family will receive friends on Thursday at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home from 11am to 1pm prior to the service.
