John was born on March 31, 1921 and passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016.

John was a resident of Salmon, Idaho at the time of passing.

He attended school in Tampa and Texas.

Fred enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served as a Staff Sergeant until completing Primary Basic and Advanced Pilot training in 1942 then attaining the rank of Captain. Fred flew 155 combat missions in various fighter aircraft during World War II destroying five enemy aircraft in over 300 combat hours some of those missions accompanying the famed Flying Tigers. Fred was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Purple Heart among his many other medals.

John was married to Bonnie.
