Obituary for John Henry Fisher, Sr.

July 27, 1941 - August 8, 2021
Aldie, Virginia | Age 80

John Henry Fisher (fondly known to some as Big Moe), was born July 27, 1941, in Washington, District of Columbia, to the late Mary Virginia Fisher and Samuel Peter Fisher. He was baptized at an early age at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Aldie, Virginia under the leadership of the late Lawrence A. Jackson. As an adult he regularly attended church services. He was a member of the cemetery committee and a ground's keeper.

John was employed with Fairfax County for a trash company. He also worked for the Town of Vienna, Public Works Dept. After retiring, he started his own trash business. After that he started a lawn care service with his son Moe and his grandsons. He would say "look at that yard, it sure looks good". No one could mow a lawn as quick and beautiful as he. He also, enjoyed watching the old western shows and he loved his cowboy boots, he liked the Redskin team, and he always had red trucks. He brought a Heavy Duty Big Ruby Truck and he had to decorate it with Redskin stuff.

John is survived by his wonderful wife of 38 years: Francine Fisher; eleven children, Pamela Bailey, Patricia Fisher, Shirley M. Fisher, Joann Fisher-Bertrand, Theresa Wooden (Robert), Moe Davis (Sarah), John Fisher, Heather Sonnen, Jonathan Tiner, Tony Pollard, Tyrone Smith and Sandra Smith.

The funeral home will be following COVID-19 measures. Temperatures will be taken at the door; masks will be required; social distancing will be practiced.
