John J. Dannenhoffer, Sr., age 64, died on April 15, 2012, after losing a long battle with cancer. Born in Vineland, NJ to Evelyn and Joseph Dannenhoffer, John attended Vineland High School where he met his wife, Jerry, of 44 years. After launching several successful companies, he moved to Virginia Beach in 1991 where he developed and later became owner of Southland Industries in Chesapeake, VA. John will be especially remembered for his commitment to his family and friends. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed telling a story or two. He will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Jerry; son, John Dannenhoffer and his wife Shirley, daughter, Laurie Leitzke and her husband John, and three grandsons, Michael, Scott and Jack Leitzke, all of Virginia Beach, VA. Sisters, Joan and Lois, and brother, Dave, all of New Jersey. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at All Saints Episcopal Church on Adam Keeling Rd., Virginia Beach with The Rev. Dr. C. Mark Engdahl officiating. In lieu of flowers, we would like to support the "Dive for a Cure" event. Please make contributions to the Hillier Foundation or EVMS Center Center.
