John Jamail, Houston's largest apartment builder and developer during the booming 1960's and 1970's passed away peacefully with his family on October 4, 2017. Variously described by Houston mayors as the "Prince of Apartment Builders" and a "Houston Treasure", Mr. Jamail added more than 30,000 apartment homes to the Houston cityscape.

John is survived by his children John Jamail, Jr. (Bob Wesolek) of Houston, TX; Michael Jamail of Las Vegas, NV; and Tane Jamail Bacino (Jeff Bacino) of Houston, TX; Grandchildren, Nicholas Jamail of San Antonio, TX and Michael Allen Jamail of Lackawanna, NY; The love of his life Shirlee Jamail of Houston, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

John is best remembered for his spirit of generosity and love for his family and friends. John and his wife Shirlee sponsored heart surgery's for under privileged children around the globe as their outreach of love and support for those in need. Their desire to care for suffering children was also shown through their major support of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital founded by cousin and close friend Danny Thomas.
Family and Friends will gather at a private celebration of life which will be announced by invitation at a later date.
