Kind, gentle and considerate are three words that come to mind describing John Paul Winand.
John died peacefully Friday August 18th 2017 at his home in Westminster Oaks.
From humble beginnings in Harrisburg PA, he went on to serve the US Navy during the Korean War.
He was the first in his family to graduate from college at Dickinson College, Carlisle PA where he met the love of his life, Ruth Conhagen Winand.
Together they created a life full of adventure. John's career as a CPA with Monsanto took them and their four children to Scotland, London and Brussels among many other locations. John adored Ruth. His passion for music and singing began as a 10 year old in the Episcopal Cathedral choir in Harrisburg.
He was a DIY pioneer and never met a challenge he could not overcome. John is survived lives on through his wife Ruth, his sister Suzie, 4 children, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Westminster Oaks Benevolence Assistance Endowment are appreciated.
A celebration of John's life will be held Tuesday August 22nd 2pm at the Maguire Center of Westminster Oaks.
