John T. Kennelly, of Williamsburg, VA, died peacefully at home on January 14, 2018.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mickey (Maxine) Kennelly, children Mary Estelle Kennelly of Arlington, VA, Elizabeth Mador (John) of New London, CT, Margaret Jones (David) of Williamsburg, VA, Kathleen Bingham of Vienna, VA, Rose Beal (Dave) of Winona, MN and Tom Kennelly of Vienna, VA, as well as nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John K. and Mary (Lapp) Kennelly, of Fargo, ND.

John was born in Mandan, ND on November 19, 1930. He was raised in Mandan and joined the U.S. Air Force as a young man, proudly serving with honor, first as a radio operator and then as a fighter pilot during the Korean War. John and Mickey were married in 1957. As a civilian, he enjoyed an extensive career with the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C, while residing in Arlington, VA and raising his family. He furthered his education during that time, earning a college degree and his CPA license. He was also an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and School in Arlington, often serving on parish and school counsels, as well as serving as lector and eucharistic minister. He retired from IRS in 1985. John and Mickey relocated to Williamsburg, VA in 1993, where he enjoyed his many years of retirement and was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church. Summers were spent in Rehoboth Beach, DE, relaxing with family. John will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family and the love he so generously shared with all of us.

A funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, January 19th at 12 noon at St. Bede Catholic Church in Williamsburg, VA (Ironbound Rd.). Immediately following the Mass, inurnment will be held at St. Bede Columbarium. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John's life.
