John Thomas Owens, 46, of Waynesboro passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Augusta Health. He was born in Waynesboro on August 20, 1971, a son of James Thomas Owens and the late Linda Faye (Criser) Owens.

John was a 1991 Waynesboro High School graduate and attended Valley Vocational Technical Center. He was employed in is younger years as a paperboy with the Waynesboro News Virginian and then later worked as a cook with Western Sizzling and the Shoney's in Waynesboro and Staunton. John's was most recently employed by Zeh Plumbing. Hunting, fishing, playing guitar, and playing video games were a few of his favorite hobbies. John will be remembered for always making the best out of his disability, and making people laugh and smile.

In addition to his mother, John was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Maggie Rusmiselle; maternal grandparents, Granville and Ruby Criser; mother-in-law, Allene Campbell; and friend, Larry Dymock.

In addition to his father, left to cherish his memory is his wife, Linda Carrie (Campbell) Owens; father-in-law, Emmett Campbell; brothers-in-law, Tony Campbell and girlfriend, Barbara Balnford and Jerry Campbell; sisters-in-law, Judy Pullen and husband, Chris and their daughter, Autumn Pullen, and Joyce Taylor and husband, Troy and their children, Steven Campbell and Anna Taylor; friend, Tony Yancey; as well as extended family and friends. John also leaves behind his beloved cats, Sadie and Simon.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Rev. Paul Pingel officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made in John's memory to the American Association for Kidney Patients, 14440 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., Tampa, FL, 33613.

Abdel-Rahman at the University of Virginia Medical Center; Dr. Kerry Alexander; all the Dialysis Teams with the University of Virginia Medical Center especially his nurses Liz, Vector, and Rachel and Augusta Health; Dr. Angela Sutton, and all the nurses associated with John's care; and the Waynesboro Fire and First Aid Crew for everyone's loving care of John and his family.
