We give honor and thanks to a loving husband, father, friend, mentor and Godly man who consistently displayed and lived the example of love, faith, obedience, and peace in God's will. John Wilfred Stanley passed away at 3:15pm, Wednesday, 26 July 2017. John was born 30 April 1937 in Eastham, England, and met his lovely wife, Sara in Colombia. Their instant attraction lead to a five-year, long distance letter writing courtship that resulted in a 54-year, romantic marriage. John is survived by his wife Sara, his three sons, Bryan, Howard & his spouse, Katherine, and Eddie, and his five grandchildren, Ethan, London, Morgan, Chase and Cassidy, and his adopted grandchildren Mandy, Alex and Bjorn Quarfordt. He is also survived by his brother, Cyril Stanley, his sister Margaret Lawson, and his four nephews and nieces, David Stanley, Christine Higson, Julie Campbell, and Sandra Cartwright. John's daily focus was to strengthen his relationship with the Lord, and be Christ-like. This translated into his day starting in prayer and devotion, and asking for a hedge of protection for his family. Each morning he would be found in his rocking chair with bible in one hand, and a cup of tea in the other (milk poured first) giving thanks for his bride, boys and blessings. With his numerous mission trips around the world with mum, and in his daily interactions with anyone he met, his love to serve and share what the Lord has done and can do for others was his favorite topic. He had a servant's heart, and was always the "go to" guy for anyone in need, at any time of the day, and for any type of challenge. His counsel and wisdom were sought after as he always had time to share. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all for their warm words, thoughts and prayers. We certainly cannot name all those who have touched dad's life and that of our family over the years, as there are so many who formed an integral part of his life, and were influenced by his daily testimony. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at The Settegast Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek from 3:00 P.M.- 5:00 P.M with Funeral services on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 3:00 P.M.
2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have kept the faith". Dad, you have conquered death with victory, and God is smiling, and the angels rejoicing. We will miss you.
