Johnny L. Buckner, 60, passed away on November 16, 2017 with his loving family by his side. He was born on December 14, 1956 to Daniel L. and Bessie L. Buckner in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is predeceased by his mother, Bessie L. Buckner.

Johnny did everything with great enthusiasm and heart. He was a loyal and devoted son, brother and husband. He shared his love of life with all those close to him. Throughout his years of employment he always gave his best to his employers. He was very well liked and admired by everyone that knew him. He was the type of person who never forgot his friends as far back as grade school. He attended all of his high school reunions and was a true First Colonial Patriot. One of his passions was restoring old cars like his 1971 Javelin. He loved going to concerts, playing sports and having fun. He was an old surfer who loved the beach , seafood and the lifestyle it offered. He also enjoyed visiting historic sites and museums. He was known for his great sense of humor, practical jokes, and positive perspective.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Debra J. Buckner; step-daughter Zida Ash, step-grandson Tyler Gimbert, two sisters, Mary Ann Buckner, and June Buckner-Marshall, two nieces, Lisa Humphrey and Kimberly Patterson, and nephew, Justin Rice.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach VA 23462.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. You may share memories and condolences at
