Jonn Clare Hertzig Calapp She came into this world January 19, 1941, a time of great strife and tremendous opportunity. The Lord knew He would need her to lead, teach and comfort the world. Her parents, Roy Ellis Hertzig and Norma Karen Nelson Hertzig Sanders, preceded her in death. Jonn has two half-sisters Cerrita Rowell and Merri Dawson. Jonn has one half-brother Jack Hertzig. She passed away October 4, 2017.

Jonn first met Dywane, whom she referred to later as "the love of her life", at the young age of 14 years. She was a dear friend of Sara, Dywane's younger sister. Jonn often needed a ride to church and her friend Sara (Calapp) Horrocks enlisted her older brother Dywane Edwin Calapp to give them a ride. For Jonn, it was love at first sight. Several years later, they were married in the Oakland LDS Temple on September 20, 1958. They spent the next 59 years of their lives together. She moved with her eternal companion approximately 34 times all over the country as he served in the Navy. She spread the gospel everywhere she went as a Seminary teacher, Relief Society President, Gospel Doctrine teacher, wife, mother, and grandmother.

While in San Diego, CA she worked at San Diego Gas & Electric for 13 years after which time she retired. In the last years of her working career she worked at the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. She loved her jobs with the church, but especially being an operator, answering phones and rubbing elbows with the general authorities of the church. Jonn took pride in being able to recognize the voices of the various church leaders when they would call into the church offices from all over the world. She would often call them by name when she could recognize their voice, to their utter amazement and delight. She retired from working for the Church after more than 15 years of service in March of 2013. Unfortunately, retirement was not as blissful as was hoped for Jonn. After enjoying a relatively healthy life, free of physical ailments for more than 70 years, the last few years were plagued with multiple strokes, cancer in her nose, a broken shoulder, which required plates and pins, and other physical ailments which took a toll on her last months of life. Despite these physical set-backs late in her life, Jonn exemplified the spirit of a valiant warrior, both physically, as well as emotionally, and spiritually as a daughter of her Heavenly Father. Jonn has truly left an indelible legacy of faith and selfless service.

Jonn emulated the Christ-like attributes of living a selfless life by placing others' needs before her own. Jonn demonstrated unfettered faith in her Heavenly Father, and in the gospel, which she taught collectively for more than 15 years of her life as a seminary teacher, sharing her gospel conviction and deep testimony of her Savior with her seminary students both in Washington and in California. Jonn loved the gospel and the scriptures. She was a stranger to no one. On many occasions when taking public transportation to work, she would strike up unsolicited conversations with fellow passengers because of her genuine interest in others. Jonn was a pillar of spiritual strength to those around her, and emulated self-less service and quiet sacrifice. Jonn also demonstrated an unrelenting loyalty to her family and friends.

Jonn Clare Hertzig Calapp was an amazing, kind, genuine mother, an amazing homemaker, a reliable and selfless provider, a loyal life-long wife and companion to her husband Dywane, a loving neighbor, and a devote daughter of God. Jonn will be the greatest guardian angel and will watch over her family from beyond the veil, undoubtedly giving encouragement and advice to her great grand-children that are yet to come to this realm.
