Joseph D. Catalfano, "Topper," age 92, of Warren, Rhode Island, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 in Miriam Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Stella (Pagano) Catalfano.

Born in Bristol, Rhode Island, a son of the late Phillip and Antonina (Ventura) Catalfano, he spent his youth in Bristol before moving to Warren in 1950.

A graduate of Colt Memorial High School, class of 1943, he served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He worked as a Produce Manager for First National Stores before retiring in 1987 and was a communicant of St. Alexander's Parish.

An avid football fan, Mr. Catalfano was inducted to the Bristol Athletic Hall of Fame and enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by one daughter, Annette Catalfano and one son, Joseph Catalfano both of Warren, two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Frank Catalfano.

His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 9:00AM from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Alexander's Parish, 221 Main St., Warren. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Bristol Athletic Hall of Fame, P.O. Box 1153, Bristol, RI 02809. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bristol.
