Joseph Failla 80, of Middletown, entered eternal rest on Wednesday December 27, 2017 at the Masonic Home in Wallingford, with his family by his side. Joe was born November 24, 1937 in Floridia, Sicily (Italy) to the late Antonio and Rosa (Alicata) Failla. As a young boy growing up in Sicily, he shared his memories of helping his father tend to bees and making honey as well as his mother's cooking. He also experienced the misfortunes of seeing WWII first hand as a child and recalling the American liberation of his beloved island of Sicily. This only added to his family's love for coming to this country even greater and one of his proudest accomplishments in life; becoming an American citizen. Joe was a young man when his family moved to America, where he resided in Hartford CT. This is where he started his carrier as a skilled tradesman. After meeting his beloved wife Beverly (Russo) Failla of 54 yrs, he relocated to Middletown CT where he and Bev shared their lives together with a loving family and friends. Besides Bev he is survived by his three children; son Mark Failla of Florida, daughters Mary Beth Failla and Wendy (Failla) Parker both of Middletown. His loving Granddaughters Mary Elizabeth (Parker) Tauanuu of New Britain and Allison Parker of Hartford. And the joy of his day, his Great Grandson T.K. Tauanuu of New Britain. Beside Joe's wife and children, he is survived by his brothers Paulo Failla of Hartford and Frank Failla of Avon and sister Helena Poppalardo of West Hartford, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, cousins and friends. When Joe wasn't working or spending time with family, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and communicating with his friend as a ham operator. The family will accept guests on Saturday January 6, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm at Biega Funeral Home 3 Silver St. Middletown CT 06457.
