Joseph, a resident of Brentwood for 75 years, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on August 22, 2017.

Born July 31, 1924, Joseph Enrico Manzo, at the family homestead and prune orchard in Gilroy, CA, to Italian immigrants ,Orsola Borello and Louis Manzo. He attended local schools and graduated from Gilroy Union High School in 1942. He was drafted into the United States Navy in 1944 where he served as a Coxwain in the WWII Pacific Theatre. Upon his discharge, he established roots in Brentwood. where he farmed and grew apricots, peaches, prunes and walnuts. In 1963 he met and married Ramona Alanis and they had three children, Elizabeth Ann, Joseph Henry Jr., and Sandra Louise.

In addition to farming he enjoyed researching and investing in stocks, real estate, and his family. He retired from growing walnuts at age 89. You could find him daily enjoying coffee and lunch with his friends. He continued teaching his grandsons how to put in a good days work at the ranch. In his later years he spent time enjoying his family, children, grandchildren and friends.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ramona Manzo, his Daughter Elizabeth Manzo McCarter, children Matthew and Michael Johnson, and husband Duncan McCarter, his son Joseph Henry Manzo Jr., wife Penelope, and their two children Jacob and Thomas, and Daughter Sandra Louise Manzo, and brother Donald Manzo and Sister Margaret Schmidt.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Orsola and Louis Manzo, siblings, Vivian Manzo, Josephine Manzo ,Lawrence Manzo, Irma DiBenedetto, John Manzo, and Clelia Johnston.
