ORGANEK. Joseph "Joey" L. Organek, 100, of Suffield, beloved husband of 48 years to the late Bernice (Christian) Organek entered eternal life on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at his home. Born January 3, 1917 in Suffield son of the late Wladyslaw and Aleksandra (Hermanoski) Organek. Joey grew up in the farming community of Suffield, he graduated from Suffield Academy with the class of 1935 he attended the Connecticut Agricultural College (now University of Connecticut), he would then join the US Navy 1943 and served during WWII, he was a Navy pilot with Air Group 20, he flew off the Aircraft Carriers USS Enterprise CV6 and USS Lexington CV16 out in the Philippine and China Sea. After the war, Joey remained with the Navel Reserves while beginning his career at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as a machine operator for many years retiring in 1981. Joey was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Suffield, and he was active in the church BINGO, he was past 2nd Commander of the Landry Sic Post 9544 VFW in West Suffield. Joey will be remembered for being a strong, kind and gentle person, who enjoyed and mastered both golf and bowling, where he accomplished some impressive levels of achievement such as three hole-in-ones. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Mildred (Christian) Chmielewski and her husband, Michael, who both gave unconditional care and aide to Joey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family of both Organek and Christian families and special friends, Edward And Sophie Basile. He was predeceased by his siblings, John and Andrew Organek, Celia Subotin, Edna Burrell, Irene Henry, Wanda Donsbough, Elizabeth Tenero, Pauline Williams and Jane Barnett. Special thanks to the Home Helpers of Enfield for taking such good care of Joey while residing at his home. His family will receive friends Monday, February 20, 2017 from 4-7 PM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. N. (Rt. 159), Suffield. Family and friends may gather Tuesday, February 21, 2017, 9:00 AM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, Suffield. Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Suffield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Joseph Church, 140 South Main St. Suffield, CT 06078, or to Landry Sic Post 9544 VFW, 972 Sheldon St, West Suffield, CT 06093.
