Obituary

Joseph Raymond, "Joe" Philippon, age 68, of North Aurora, IL passed suddenly on September 25, 2019. Joe was born in Chicago on December 24,1950 and was raised on the south side of the city with his two brothers by his parents the late Raymond J. Philippon and the late Rachel Caouette. Joe enlisted with the United States Marine Corps in 1968. During his service, he spent time as an MP on the island of Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam War, and was able to conclude his term in 1971. Following his service, he became actively involved as a volunteer police officer with the Will County Sheriff's Office for several years.

His true life's passion however were mechanics, starting with rebuilding cars as a young man to continuing his work as a Diesel Mechanic until his retirement at the age of 59. The past few years Joe had the opportunity to enjoy many great things in his life. Some of his favorite hobbies included bird watching, feeding of the local wildlife, fishing, planting flowers, attending concerts in the park, grilling out on his patio, watching the Bear's game, out spending time with his family and friends, and lastly riding his bicycle at all hours of the day up and down the Fox River Trail.

This man led an extraordinary life and is deeply missed by the surviving members of his family, including his daughter Danielle (Colin) Cherie Philippon Anderson, brothers Kenneth Philippon, Michael (Bonnie) Philippon, and niece Megan Philippon Legg.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 from 3 PM - 8 PM at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora, IL 60506. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the funeral home followed by a 12:30 PM burial with Military Honors at Resurrection Cemetery, 7201 Archer Road, Justice, IL 60458
