Rev. Josie C. Alvarez of Grand Prairie, TX passed from our world into God's Kingdom, on Friday, June 30, 2017. She was 80 years old.

Rev. Josie C. Alvarez was born on March 19, 1937, in Austin, TX. She served the community through her ministry by supporting the homeless and those in need through her food pantry and charitable giving. Also, establishing the Rev. Josie Alvarez Endowment, that sponsors students to receive a private education through this scholarship program. Rev. Josie never met a stranger because every person was her friend. Her nurturing spirit was a quality that had so many friends calling her mom. She honored God with her commitment to His Word. She walked in kindness and love daily. Her humble beginnings of working as a migrant worker as a little girl developed her the strength in creating a pathway to success for her family. Her family was her strength in the same way she was theirs.
Her legacy of faith and generosity continues through the lives of her children, grandchildren, and through all the lives she's touched.

Surviving her is her husband Moisses Alvarez, and her four children: Rev. Dr. Sandra Gonzales (Rev. Abel Gonzales) of Saginaw, MI, Dr. Brenda Rocha (Mr. Lewis Rocha) of Chesterton, IN, Mrs. Donna Barrientes (Rev. Salvador Barrientes Sr.) of Grand Prairie, TX, and Minister Paul Martinez of Grand Prairie, TX.
