Josie Mae Herndon (1920-2014)

Josie Mae Herndon passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 in Yuma, Arizona. She was born in Peacock, Texas on November 6, 1920 to Bud and Elise Patton. Josie married Clifford J. Herndon "Bob" and together they had four children. She was a teacher for many years. Josie taught at Mohawk Valley and Wellton schools. She loved teaching and retired in 1985. Even when she was not in front of a classroom, she always had a lesson to be learned. Josie was a member of the Baptist church in Wellton, AZ. She believed in the Lord and all his power. Josie felt that all people should have faith, love and hope. She was a wonderful woman. All that knew her will miss her dearly. Josie will forever be in our memories and our hearts.

Josie was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Herndon; sons, Brent Herndon and Rodney Herndon; grandchildren, Janet, Brandon, and Blake; sister-in-law, Betty; and her parents. Josie is survived by her children, Robert Herndon (Mae) and Vicki Riesland (Bill); daughters-in-law, Gina and Rommie; grandchildren, Robert, Pamela, Bryan, Bubba, Lynnsey, Bailey, Trevor, and Hulee; 5 great grandchildren; brother, R.L. Patton of Mangum, OK. Josie was very fortunate in finding her best friend and caregiver, Gina Barajas, whom she shared many laughs with.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the Community Church in Roll, AZ, Avenue 39E and County 5th Street with Pastor Cecil Pratt officiating.
