After a sudden illness, Joyce Barnes Moreland passed away, Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Lakeview Place in Mantachie, Mississippi. She was born February 28, 1935 with her twin sister, Joy, to Delmus and Flaura Mae Barnes. She graduated in 1954 from Marietta High School and married Ecward Moreland on April 10, 1954. While Ecward was stationed in San Diego, she joined him until he was discharged and they came home. They moved to Waukegan and then Zion, Illinois where Joyce worked for Goodyear. In 1961, they came home for good. They bought a farm in the Siloam community of New Site where they resided until Ecward's death. During this time, Joyce worked for Stahl-Urban (Masterson and Kellwood) in Booneville. She joined Wal-Mart in 1979 and worked as a cashier until her retirement in 1997. She always greeted every customer with a smile and there was never a stranger she met. She was a faithful member of the New Bethel Church of Christ. After retirement, she and Ecward kept grandchildren and worked in their garden. After Ecward's death in 2014, her health declined and she moved to Lakeview Place.

A celebration of life will be Thursday, January 4, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Ricky Griffin officiating. Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Burial will be in New Bethel Church of Christ cemetery.
