Juanita Davis Andrews, 89, left this life on June 8, 2015. She was born on May 13th 1926 to Nora Mae Bulluck Davis and Roy H. Davis, their only child and grew up in Englewood. Her beloved husband, Curtis Howard Andrews, Sr. preceded her in death in 2006 after being married for fifty-nine years, lacking one week.



Mrs. Andrews had been a member of First Christian Church since birth. She graduated from Rocky Mount High School and University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Home Economics in 1948. She taught Home Economics at Coopers High School and then founded The Remnant Shop in her garage, later opening other stores, Fabricland, Drapery Designs, and the Sewing Basket. She was the 1960 recipient of the Career Plus Award of the Rocky Mount Business and Professional Women’s Club. In 1988 she was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the School of Human Environmental Sciences and UNC-Greensboro. Juanita served from 1980-1982 as president of the UNC-G Human Environmental Sciences Foundation Board of Trustees and as trustee of the UNC-G Alumni Association from 1972-1974 and district chairperson for the association’s Alumni Scholarship Committee.



She was Elder Emeritus of First Christian Church, serving as chairperson of the board and Christian Women’s Fellowship.



She was very active at Christmount Assembly, Black Mountain, NC, serving on the board and many committees and chaired the 50th Anniversary.



Dolls were her second love after family and friends. She collected and shared them at her ‘Doll Museum’. She enjoyed the Englewood Garden Club and playing bridge.



Those left to cherish her memory, son Curtis H Andrews, Jr. and wife Yolande of Battleboro, daughters Amy Andrews Bloomer and husband Robert S. Bloomer III of Pittsford, NY and Melinda Andrews Huey and husband Melton of Manassas, VA, grandchildren Estelle Massry and husband Ihab of Rumson, NJ, William Howard Andrews and wife Gretchen of Charlotte, Robert S. Bloomer IV and wife Elizabeth of Winston-Salem, Curtis Howard Bloomer and Cameron Stuart Bloomer of Pittsford, NY, Meredith and Madelyn Huey of Manassas, VA and great-grandchildren Olivia Massry, Michael Massry and W. Conrad Andrews.



Visitation will be held Wednesday June 10, 2015 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the 1st Christian Church on West Haven Blvd. Rocky Mount.



Funeral Service will be on Wednesday June 10, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the 1st Christian Church. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.



In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the 1st Christian Church, Barton College or Christmount Assembly, Black Mountain NC.
