Juanita Faye Borth of Killeen Texas, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017, at a nursing facility in Belton Texas. She was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Wayne and Florence Slaughter. She grew up in El Paso, Texas. She married Bobby Barker after high school and had 4 beautiful children. She was a full time mother, avid bowler, and was a member of the garden club. Later after she divorced, she met and married Larry Borth. They became a military family. They lived in Savannah, Georgia where she enjoyed playing catcher for the "Miss Fits" softball team. Then it was on to Anchorage Alaska, where she worked Real Estate for awhile before going to work for Civil Service at Ft. Richardson Alaska. She was a member of the Toast Masters Club, as well as the Northern Lights Cowboy Rodeo Association. She enjoyed very much watching her sons ride in Rodeos. She traveled many miles . She was their number one supporter and cheerleader , whether a good ride or not. When she didn't go ,she didn't sleep a wink till she knew they were ok. They settled in Killeen Texas where she worked at a local hospital before returning to civil service at Ft. Hood Texas where she retired with 20 plus years of service. After retiring she became an active volunteer for Metroplex Hospital , Killeen Volunteers Inc. , Killeen Free Clinic, Keep Killeen Beautiful, and her passion Rodeo Killeen, where she was able to volunteer along side her son, Buddy Barker. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Don Slaughter, and her beloved daughter Bobbi Leann Curnutt.
Her survivors include her sister Lorriane Huff and husband Dave of Emmett , Idaho. Sons, Buddy Barker and wife Lisa of Killeen, Texas, Don and wife Donna of Anchorage, Alaska, and Joe Barker of Wasilla Alaska. Grandchildren Krystal Borgmier and David Taylor of Oklahoma, Austin and Brianna Barker of Anchorage, Alaska, Kori Parks and Katelyn Barker of Hermiston Oregon. Great grandchildren Lauren Hysell and Trey Borgmier of Wellston, Oklahoma and Eli Barker of Hermiston Oregon, many nieces and nephews and good friends. In lieu of flowers please make donation to your favorite charity. There will be a Celebration of Life come and go , Wednesday October 4, 2017 from 5 - 8 pm at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen Texas Special thanks to all the staff at Kindred Hospice and Creekside Terrace in Belton for taking such good care of and making sure Juanita was comfortable in her stay .
