Juanita "Janie" Ramos Hale was born on August 30, 1939 to Juan and Rosa Ramos in Desoto, Texas. She attended school in Dumas, Texas and later graduated with a Bachelors Degree of Nursing from West Texas State University. She began her nursing career at St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo.

She later worked until her retirement at the Veterans Administration hospital in Amarillo where countless patients were helped by her knowledge and skills. Janie took pride in her work and felt content in her role as a nurse. She overcame many obstacles in her life and her faith was paramount in her triumphs.

Janie was a devout Catholic and leaned on her faith throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her father Juan, and her brothers, Joe and Ben, as well as an infant son, John Homer Hale and a grandson, Sullivan Hale Atchley.

She leaves behind two sisters, Terry and Cathy, daughters Sarah and husband Shawn Uselding, Maria Hale and husband Brandon Atchley, and son Selden Hale, grandchildren, T. Scout Hale, Jackson Uselding, Shaw Atchley, Sager Atchley, Jamison Uselding, Samuel Hale, Jaeli Uselding, and Grace Hale.
