Juanita L. Bair died peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2013. She was born in 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Carrie Santo. She leaves her daughter, Susan D. "Suzie" Bair of Vernon and was predeceased by her daughter Sandra L. "Sandy" Bair of Vernon. Juanita moved to Vernon in 1968 where she was very active and dedicated to local and state politics. She served as secretary of the Vernon Republican Town Committee and was a member of the Vernon Planning and Zoning Committee for many years. Juanita worked for Aetna Life & Casualty and the Town of Vernon for over 30 years before retiring in 2006. Juanita enjoyed spending time with her daughters and her beloved canine pals Sophie and Sadie. On every football Sunday, all could be found enjoying the Cleveland Browns games. Calling hours will be held at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road, Vernon, on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 9-11AM, followed by a funeral service at 11AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Valley Falls Cemetery, Valley Falls Road, Vernon. Donations in Juanita's memory may be made to the Bolton Veterinary Hospital, 222 Boston Turnpike, Bolton, CT 06043. Suzie would like to thank Matthew Galligan and Tim Schwager for all of their help, love and compassion throughout this difficult time. Suzie would also like to thank Amy Lombardi for the compassion and care she gave her and her mother.
