Judith Lynn Biss of Nacogdoches passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017, at her residence at the age of 65 years, 2 months, and 6 days. She was born April 18, 1952, in Akron, Ohio, to parents Robert Franklin and Ethel Mae Biss.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2017, at Grace Bible Church in Nacogdoches officiated by Elder Ralph Busby. A reception will follow the service at the Grace Bible Church Fellowship Hall.

Judith loved to laugh and made friends wherever she went. She loved her children, and she would talk with them every day. Some of her hobbies included gardening, camping, taking family trips, visiting museums, and going to the movies. She also played piano, sang in church choir, acted in school plays, and learned to ski in her younger years. She married her husband, Luis Ramirez, on October 23, 1982, in Evanston, Illinois.

She earned her BA degree and MSJ degree in Journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She was also Manager of Publications for Medical Library Association from 1975- 1984, owner of Acacia Creative Services from 1984 - 1991, and she taught at Manchester College and Huntington University in Indiana before joining the faculty in Business Communication at SFASU from 1999 to the present. She volunteered her time as host for SFA International Friendship Program. She received the Marlin C. Young Outstanding Teacher Award, Association for Business Communication, Southwestern Region in 2017.

Judith was a member of Grace Bible Church in Nacogdoches. She was also a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Association for Business Communication, and Texas Business and Technology Educators Association.

Mrs. Biss was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Luis Ramirez of Nacogdoches; son, Paul Ramirez of Dallas; daughter, Elyse Noelle Ramirez of Canton, Ohio; granddaughters, Coreyona Ramirez de Fair and Layleeanna Ramirez de Fair of Canton, Ohio; brother, James Biss of Green, Ohio; brother, Gerald Biss of Port Angeles, Washington; and sister, Carol Taylor of Tampa, Florida.
