Jules Evans DesRoches, born in Convent, LA, passed away on November 7, 2017 at the age of 94. Beloved husband of Tracy Theriot DesRoches for the past 70 years. Father of Donna DesRoches Berger, Dennis Jules DesRoches (wife Marlene), and Wade Thomas DesRoches (wife Karen), grandfather of four Eric Berger, Zoe Berger Hall, Todd Berger, and Suzannah DesRoches and great-grandfather of four.
Jules was the son of Hypolite DesRoches and Louise Phillippe DesRoches and brother to Eldon DesRoches, Eugene DesRoches, Lucille DesRoches Aucoin, Rollin DesRoches, Walter DesRoches, Robert DesRoches, Louis DesRoches, Lilly DesRoches Constantine, Carolyn DesRoches Hargis, Charles DesRoches and Louise DesRoches.
Jules was a 1940 graduate of Marrero High School and worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 38 years before retiring in 1978. He was a decorated veteran of World War II and proudly served in the 79th Infantry Division active in the European Theater of Operations. Jules was a humble and quiet man of deep faith who enjoyed traveling the U.S. with Tracy once retired and loved helping his children with babysitting and building projects.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna. Express condolences at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
