Julie Dawne Morriss Collins, 75, of Nash, Texas passed away August 24, 2017 as a result of complications from a recent accident. Julie was born in Huntington Park, California, on August 22, 1942, the eldest child of James and Gladys Morriss.

Active in both business and her community, Julie was the Vice President of Human Resources for JCM Industries, Inc. in Nash; a company her parents, husband Ronald Collins and sister Cynthia Goerke all owned and grew together to become a thriving business with more than 130 employees.
Julie was known for her unwavering support of our community. She served on the Board of Directors for Hands on Texarkana, the Randy Sams Outreach Centers, the Northeast Texas Workforce Board, Chairman of the Miller/Bowie County Literacy Council, Cornerstone Methodist Retirement Community, Bunch Woodview Center, and The Wadley Foundation. She was a member of Chapter CX P.E.O. Sisterhood and Rotary International. She was a proud graduate of Leadership Texas Class of 2004. She was also an active member in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council, Texas Association of Business, and the Water and Waste Water Equipment Manufacturers Association.

Julie enjoyed both traveling the world and quietly reading a good mystery. She loved telling stories to groups both small and large and was the perennial MC for all company parties. Julie's love for animals was second to none, and she loved and raised many over the years, including horses and cattle, and many cats and dogs, including her beloved Samoyeds.
Julie grew up in California but spent her summers in east Texas with her grandparents and cousins. After high school she attended a semester at Baylor but quickly transferred back to San Mateo Junior College to be with her sweetheart, Ron. They then attended Southern Methodist University together.
Married in Texarkana in 1964, Julie and Ron lived in Huntington Beach, California where they started their family. Work transfers took them to Northern California, and then Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, before they settled in Nash, Texas, in 1976, to found JCM with the family.

Julie is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Ronald Collins; her sister, Cynthia Goerke of Texarkana; and her brother, James Morriss III, and his wife, Cindy, of Austin, TX. Julie is also survived by her four children: Robin Crumley and fiancé Scott Helms of Nash, John Collins and his wife, Tina, of Wake Village, Aaron Collins and his wife, Barbara, of Texarkana, and Summer, and her husband, Matt Gonter, of Baltimore, MD. Julie also was grandmother to Patsy Crumley, Amanda Collins, Micah Collins and Allyson Collins.
