Julie Deann Keith Powell was born in Dumas, Texas on January 7, 1961 to Betty Britain Keith and Jerry Keith.

Julie was defined by doing the things that people told her were impossible for her to do. More often than not, she proved them wrong:
You can not drive; - she did! Her poor Mercury Monarch was rebuilt more often than Frankenstein!
You cannot participate in sports - she ran further and faster than anyone in school. You cannot date that man - she did! She loved and cherished him, not only to the day he died but to her own last breath.
You cannot have children - her life long dream was to be a mother and she was. She had two beautiful daughters, Nicole and Jena, who are as loyal to Julie as she was to them.
You cannot live past 30 - she did. she lived everyday!

Julie identified herself as first a mother, then a wife, then sister and finally a daughter. The "impossible" things Julie accomplished in this world came from her faith in God and the sheer determination that only He provided to her. She gave to others when most would believe there was nothing left to give -- Then she would give again.

Julie's life can teach us many lessons, but there are three that stick out. First, we can overcome adversity and should not be bothered by the limits others project onto us.
Julie let nothing stop her. Even though she lived with epilepsy, overcame physical injury and then fought cancer, she strove to live every minute.
Second, time is a gift, and Julie gave it over and over. She sat with the old, played games with her children and even took her little brother on dates and to the movies.
The third is survival, as mother she taught her children to thrive during the good times and the bad.

Julie is preceded in death by her husband Whitnell Bobby Powell and her granddaughter Carman Alexus.

Julie is survived by her daughter, Nicole Davis and her husband Will; daughter, Jena Hudson and her husband Jerry; granddaughters, Cameron Davis, Michelle and Rain Hudson; mother, Betty Britain Keith; and father, Jerry Bryan Keith; brothers, Jerry Bryan Keith, Jeffery Burton Keith; and sister, Jeane Marie Keith.
